Ted Proud

It is with much regret that we have to announce the passing of our member, Ted Proud, on February 6th 2017. Edward Wilfrid Baxby Proud was born in 1930 and was a most distinguished postal historian and author. He published many many books including his three volumes on Malaya. He spent several years in Malaya and built up a substantial collection of covers, and of knowledge! He was invited to sign the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists. At the time of his passing he was the earliest member still with us, having joined the group in 1959. He gave several amazing displays to the MSG, all of which were attended to the point of overflowing. He will be a great loss to philately, to Malaya and to so many other countries.
