Stamp printing and production for the Malayan area

by Rein Bakhuizen van den Brink

The project aims to describe the printing methods of all postage stamps and the types of paper they were printed on. Just the base stamps will be described in their own right. When there was no “base stamp” available for overprinting, as was the case for most of the Straits Settlements BMA‘s, the overprints will be discussed as well as an additional stage of printing.

Also to give details about the printing works involved like De La Rue, Harrison & Sons, etc. As well as to paper mills like Samuel Jones, Wiggins Teape, etc.

The links underneath will be steadily updated and be available as a link to my web pages as well as downloadable PDF‘s. The web pages will be updated more frequently though.

Questions about the project and new information to be added or updated to the existing list are welcome.
